Organic Essential Oil Is A Better Choice

Essential oils have many uses. They are used in aromatherapy. They are used as the fragrance in perfumes and colognes. And they are used in massage oils. The reason that essential oils have so many uses is that they are thought to have healing properties. The oils are extracted from plants and are a concentrated form of the essence of the plant. It is because they are so concentrated that it is best to always shop for organic essential oil whenever you are looking for it.

Organic vs. Non-Organic

When plants are grown and harvested organically, they typically have more nutrients in them because they are allowed to grow in a more natural state in more fertile soil. Non-organic farming practices allow for the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides and also allows for chemical treatment of plants after harvest. In organic farming, no synthetic chemicals, herbicides, and pesticides are permitted. When organic plants are harvested, they are usually just the plant with no added chemicals. This is important in the next step of the essential oil process, which is distillation.

Distillation

During distillation, the essential oils are extracted from the plants. This is the concentrated essence of the plant. There are several methods to extract the oils but steam distillation and expression are the most popular. This makes it obvious why organic essential oil is a better choice. Since the essence of the plant is concentrated during distillation, any chemicals that were used in growing or harvesting the plant are also concentrated during distillation.

Organic and Grown in the Wild

Plants do not necessarily need to be organic to produce a good, pure, high-quality essential oil. There are also essential oils produced from plants grown in the wild. This is just what it sounds like. In some parts of the world, plants that produce essential oils are grown in the wild without the use of any type of modern farming techniques, or, in some cases, the plants grow like weeds. They are harvested and used to produce essential oil. But, since the plants are not grown to organic standards, they cannot be labeled as organic essential oil. They will, however, in most cases, be free of chemicals and pesticides.
